1) Professional profiles & typical needs
- Salespeople/consultants : intensive smartphone (mail/CRM), signature tablet, BT headset — need 20k compact + USB-C 30 W.
- Creative/communication : photo/video smartphone, USB-C micro-camera, 4G router — aim for 30k to last the day + filming.
- Technicians/IT : 4G/5G router, USB tools, headlamps, USB-C walkie-talkie — 20k/30k depending on duration & fleet.
- Mobile teleworking : smartphone + low-power tablet/ultrabook — 30k with 30W PD .
- Students/teachers : note-taking tablet, e-reader, headphones, smartphone — 20k very versatile.
Objectives: fast charging (USB-C PD 30 W), reliability , weight/compactness , security , synergy with energy station & 120 W panels .
2) Choose 20k vs 30k: mAh ⇄ Wh, USB-C 30W, ports
-
Capacity : mAh converts to Wh (energy) via:
Wh ≈ (mAh ÷ 1000) × 3,7 V
- 20,000 mAh ≈ 74 Wh (gross cell energy).
- 30,000 mAh ≈ 111 Wh .
USB power delivery depends on electronics: ~80–90% efficiency in DC (no AC).
- USB-C PD Power : 30W is the excellent all-around standard : fast smartphones/tablets, video accessories, routers, and sometimes maintaining low-power ultrabooks.
- Ports : 1× USB-C 30W (in/out) + 1–2× USB-A 12–18W (QC) for charging multiple devices simultaneously.
- Pass-through* : practical for powering a router or headphones while recharging the power bank (if the model supports it — see product sheet).
- Display/LED : Battery % & power indicators = easy control on the go.
- Weight/size : 20k = discreet daily ; 30k = heavy day /business trip.
3) Cables & accessories: e-marker 5A, 60/100/240 W
- USB-C e-marker 5A : essential for stability at 30W (and compatible with 100/240W for your laptops/hubs). See our certified cables .
- Length : 0.5–1 m = minimal losses and bag/desk ergonomics.
- USB power strip : useful for distributing low power (headphones/watches) and keeping the 30W USB-C dedicated to the “big” device.
- DC/USB adapters : with power station, powers small 12V devices (lamp, fan) while charging the power bank.
4) Real autonomy: methods & examples
Énergie utile ≈ Capacité(Wh) × Rendement DC (≈0,85)
Nombre de charges ≈ Énergie utile / Batterie appareil (Wh)
-
Smartphone 4–5,000 mAh (~15–18 Wh)
- 20k : 74×0.85 ≈ 63 Wh → ~3–4 charges.
- 30k : 111×0.85 ≈ 94 Wh → ~5–6 charges.
-
Tablet 8–10,000 mAh (~30–37 Wh)
- 20k → ~1.5–2 charges.
- 30k → ~2.5–3 charges.
-
4G/5G Router ~10W continuous
- 20k → 63/10 ≈ ~6 h .
- 30k → 94/10 ≈ ~9 h .
-
Webcam/USB lighting 5–10 W:
- 20k → ~6–12 h.
- 30k → ~9–18 h.
Tip: Turn off AC charging on your laptop if you're using the power bank for peripherals ; your dock/outlet will charge the laptop later via 100W USB-C.
5) Ultrabooks & tablets: what can a 30 W do?
- USB-C 30W maintains or slowly charges many low-power ultrabooks and USB-C tablets (browsing, office work, note-taking), especially if the screen/brightness is moderate.
- Load ramp-up : in “compile/render/games”, 30 W slows down the discharge but will not always be enough to increase the %; normal.
- Optimization : economy mode, clean Wi-Fi/BT, close heavy apps, lower brightness, use a 5A e-marker cable .
- Stronger need : for more demanding laptops, use the station (USB-C 60–100 W) and keep the power bank for phones/tablets/router.
6) Workflow: fast charging on station & 120 W solar
- LiFePO4 Station 512–700 Wh : charges your power bank via fast USB-C (typical 18–30 W input) while the station itself is being charged (mains, 120 W panel , 12 V car ).
- Solar 100–120 W via MPPT : 70–95 W useful in full sun; in 2–3 hours, you “pay” for several smartphone charges + a power bank.
- Organization : groups the recharges (phones/power banks) during solar input or while driving 12 V → the station remains high in % for the laptop at the end of the day.
- Pass-through : practical on the power bank for accessories (headphones/router) while it is charging (if compatible model).
7) Multi-projects: teleworking, light filming, construction sites, IT
Nomadic teleworking
- Powerbank : 30k PD 30W for smartphone + tablet + router.
- Station : 512–700 Wh for laptop (USB-C 100 W) + 12 W portable display.
- Solar : 120 W 2–3 h at noon.
Light photo/video creation
- Power banks : 20k for microphones/HF/monitors, 30k for smartphone and action camera.
- Station : 700 Wh for DC LED + cam/drone loads (punctual AC).
Light construction / craftsman
- Powerbank : 20k for smartphone/headlamp, 30k for 4G router & USB tools.
- Station : 512–700 Wh for recharging batteries (AC) + 12 V LED.
IT & troubleshooting
- Powerbank : 30k PD for 4G/5G router (8–12 W) on customer site + phones.
- Station : pass-through/UPS for continuity box/NAS in workshop.
8) Safety, aircraft & best practices
- Quality : choose certified power banks, OXM protections (overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating), robust casing.
- Airplane (carry-on baggage) : Most airlines allow <100 Wh without request; beyond that (up to 160 Wh), check your airline's rules and the permitted quantity. 20k (~74 Wh) is generally acceptable; 30k (~111 Wh) may require authorization. Never in the hold .
- Transport : Protected ports, avoid compression/sharp objects, do not cover while charging.
- Temperature : in the shade, ventilated, avoid driving in direct sunlight in summer.
- Storage : ~50–60% if not used for several weeks, recharge quarterly.
- Compatibility : Use e-marker 5A USB-C cables for stability & longevity.

12) FAQ power banks 20k/30k
Is 30W enough for a laptop?
For low-power ultrabooks, yes for maintaining/charging slowly (light use). For more power, use a station (USB-C 60–100 W) and keep the power bank for the rest.
What is pass-through?
The power bank powers a device while it charges . Not all models support this: check the product sheet.
How many charges for my smartphone?
20k → ~3–4 charges; 30k → ~5–6 (assuming 15–18 Wh battery and ~85% DC efficiency).
Plane: can I take 30k?
30k ≈ 111 Wh: Many airlines require prior approval and limit the number of units. Always check the airline's policy.
Are my current cables sufficient?
Get a USB-C 5A e-marker : PD stability, better longevity, ready for 100/240W on the station/laptop side.
